Farm Watt Innovations Raises ₹32.5 Crore to Expand Biomass Supply Chain

Farm Watt Innovations has successfully closed a funding round worth ₹32.5 Crore, co-led by IAN Alpha Fund and Rainmatter. The startup intends to utilize this capital to strengthen the supply chain infrastructure for India’s bioenergy sector by expanding its biomass collection networks and aggregation hubs.

Scaling Biomass Aggregation and Bioenergy Infrastructure

The fresh investment will support the procurement of new machinery and the development of the company’s workforce. These resources are essential for the firm to bridge the current gap between the availability of agricultural residue and the rising demand from industrial bioenergy projects.

Beyond collection, the company plans to establish its own bioenergy plants. This strategy includes building a portfolio of Compressed Biogas (CBG), bio-pellet, and biochar facilities to create a fully integrated circular bioeconomy platform.

Geographic expansion is a priority for the startup as it scales its operations. Farm Watt aims to extend its presence into states including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Bihar.

Company Overview

Addressing Agricultural Residue and Energy Demand

Founded in 2023 by Kumar Neelendu, the company addresses the challenge of underutilized crop residue in India. While the nation produces approximately 500 million tons of agricultural waste annually, much of it is currently burned, leading to significant air pollution and soil degradation.

The government’s SATAT policy has accelerated the development of CBG facilities across the country, creating a surge in demand for reliable feedstock. Farm Watt positions itself as a critical link in this ecosystem by providing an organized supply chain that ensures consistent, high-quality biomass for industrial use.

The company also plans to diversify its service offerings to include digital supply chain solutions and carbon credit initiatives. By integrating technology with rural market expertise, the firm aims to improve farmer incomes while supporting India’s broader transition to renewable energy sources.

This funding confirms the role of organized biomass aggregation in solving the dual challenge of managing agricultural waste and fueling the clean energy transition. By professionalizing the supply chain, Farm Watt is working to convert an environmental liability into a sustainable economic resource for the energy sector.
