Zoho corporation launched its instant messaging mobile application called ‘Arattai’. Arattai stands for chat in Tamil. The app was released on January 7th, 2021 by the founder and CEO of Zoho, Mr. Sridhar Vembu as it is a friends-and-family trial release. After the release, it has got 20,000 downloads with in a week.

This instant cloud messaging app Arattai remained in discussions even before the launch and is currently available in the play store with 4.5 ratings. The app was lastly updated on Jan 29th, 2021, and has crossed more than 1 lakh downloads.

The application states that the privacy of the customer data stays private and accessible only to the individual customer. The data of this app is stored in Zoho servers located in India. To make it more convenient for the users the application is made ad-free and assured to be free for lifetime.

This app is seen as a ‘Made in India’ or Swadeshi replacement of Whatsapp with more than 3,000+ reviews. This app needs some improvement regarding a few issues. The inclusion of app-to-app encryption will add popularity to the app. The application needs permission to microphone for identification purposes, record audio, device ID, reading calendar events, finding, and modifying contacts.
