Autonomous Vehicle Startup Gatik Secures $200M in Funding

Autonomous vehicle startup Gatik has raised $200 million in its Series D funding round, led by Qatar Investment Authority and Koch Disruptive Technologies.

The fresh capital comes after the business finalized a multiyear commercial agreement with PepsiCo on June 8, 2026. Additional financial backing came from Millennium Management, ARK Invest, and Intact Private Capital.

Headquartered in Santa Clara, California, the company has accumulated about $500 million since it came out of stealth in 2019. Executives chose not to disclose the company valuation during the announcement.

Scaling Driverless Operations

Co-founder and CEO Gautam Narang noted that these financial partners share long-term visions for the firm.

The injection of money represents the largest funding event for the enterprise to date. It transitions the organization from a small pilot program into a commercial entity running driverless operations across multiple cities with several customers.

Narang outlined plans to scale the fleet of driverless trucks, grow the customer base, and enter new regions. The long-term vision includes expanding operations outside of North America.

Focus on Middle-Mile Delivery

While many technology competitors focused on sidewalk delivery robots, robotaxis, or long-haul big rigs, Gatik targeted short-haul logistics. The firm built a fleet of driverless box trucks using vehicles manufactured by Isuzu Motors. These trucks deliver food and beverage products for suppliers.

Operations began with fixed routes under 10 miles. The network eventually expanded to dynamic routes featuring dozens of pick-up and drop-off locations across regional logistics networks. This middle-mile focus has helped the company establish a distinct position in the autonomous freight market.

Current high-profile customers include Canada’s Loblaws, Kroger, Tyson Foods, and Walmart, which became a client in July 2019. The business reached a major technical milestone by removing safety drivers from behind the wheel on commercial routes.

Dozens of fully driverless trucks now operate commercially around the clock across various markets, handling conditions such as light rain and snow.

The largest public partnership involves PepsiCo. Under the PepsiCo partnership, 41 driverless box trucks transport Frito-Lay products such as Cheetos and Doritos from distribution centers to retail stores in Dallas, Phoenix, and Northwest Arkansas. These commercial activities have locked in contracted revenue worth $600 million according to Narang.

The newly acquired $200 million will support faster scaling. The enterprise plans to expand its 350-person workforce by hiring additional engineers and operational staff while entering new markets or growing within existing ones. The company is also targeting more than 100 driverless trucks by the end of 2026.
