Indian pet care startup Supertails is changing its main strategy. Instead of focusing only on rapid expansion, the company wants to build long-term financial health. The business plans to reach full profitability within 24 to 36 months while preparing for an initial public offering in the future.
Varun Sadana, Aman Tekriwal, and Vineet Khanna started the company in 2021 as an online pet food platform. Since then, the enterprise has grown into a broader ecosystem that serves nearly one million customers. Its network now includes veterinary clinics, private-label products, and quick commerce infrastructure.
Financial Growth and Revenue
The shift comes after a period of significant annual revenue growth. Operating revenue climbed from about 109 crore rupees in fiscal year 2025 to 200 crore rupees in fiscal year 2026. Losses remained broadly unchanged even as the business invested in new clinics, dark stores, and healthcare infrastructure.
The enterprise now operates 12 veterinary clinics in Bengaluru and employs over 110 veterinarians. It also runs a network of 45 partner-operated dark stores across three cities to support quick commerce deliveries.
Vineet Khanna noted that the company has entered a phase where unit economics and profitability must make complete sense.
Market Opportunity and Next Steps
The broader Indian pet care market is projected to reach between 7 billion dollars and 8 billion dollars by 2030. Supertails aims to capture this demand by focusing on customer retention, purchase frequency, and better infrastructure utilization rather than just adding new locations.
The leadership team believes the current infrastructure must work harder to improve margins. By combining ecommerce, veterinary care, and private-label items like Henlo, Supertails wants to increase the value of each customer relationship and move the business toward full profitability.
Cats have also emerged as an important growth segment for Supertails, accounting for around 60 percent of the company’s revenue despite representing a much smaller share of India’s pet population.
The company is also targeting more than 100 dark stores and a similar number of clinics over the next three years as it expands beyond Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai into Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.
