VAHDAM Targets ₹1,000 Cr Revenue Goal in India Wellness Market

VAHDAM, a wellness brand known for its international footprint, is pivoting its strategy to prioritize the Indian market. The company aims to reach a revenue milestone of ₹1,000 crore by fiscal year 2029 by focusing on herbal supplements and products tailored for local consumers.

VAHDAM’s Strategic Shift Toward the Indian Market

For nearly a decade, the company concentrated its efforts on international expansion, establishing a presence in over 180 countries. It sold products through its own website, various online marketplaces, and major global retail chains like Walmart and Costco.

The domestic market previously accounted for less than 4% of total revenue. Recent internal changes, including the formation of a dedicated India team, signal a move to treat the country as a primary growth driver rather than an extension of international operations.

Founder Bala Sarda noted that the India business has grown 2.5 times compared to the previous year. The company is currently on track to achieve an annual run rate of ₹100 crore within the domestic market by the end of fiscal year 2027.

Financial Recovery and Product Portfolio Expansion

The company reported revenue of approximately ₹350 crore for fiscal year 2026 and is currently profitable at both the EBITDA and PAT levels. Based on performance data from the first quarter of the current fiscal year, it expects to exceed ₹500 crore in revenue by the end of fiscal year 2027.

This growth follows a period of financial difficulty between fiscal years 2022 and 2024, during which the firm recorded three consecutive years of losses. A post-pandemic inventory surplus necessitated a strategic reset, leading to more disciplined demand planning and selective product development.

VAHDAM has diversified its offerings beyond tea to include coffee, herbal infusions, and wellness supplements. Its current catalog features over 250 stock keeping units centered on Indian botanicals such as ginger, brahmi, tulsi, and moringa, which now represent roughly 70% of its tea business.

VAHDAM’s Domestic Growth Strategy

The brand manages its own manufacturing and quality control processes to maintain product standards. It sources ingredients directly from farmers across more than 20 states in India, processing and packaging them at a 125,000 square foot facility.

By shifting to a digital-first distribution model within India, the company intends to scale its presence effectively. This approach is designed to leverage the brand’s existing expertise in premium wellness products to capture domestic demand for preventive health solutions.

This transition represents a significant change in direction for a company that built its initial reputation by exporting Indian commodities as premium consumer brands. The upcoming focus on domestic consumers marks the next phase of the firm’s long-term business development.
