BlissClub Raises ₹160 Cr to Scale Retail and Product Categories

BlissClub has secured ₹160 Cr (approximately $16.8 million) in a fresh funding round led by Singularity AMC. The company will use the funds to accelerate its omnichannel growth strategy.

Existing investors Elevation Capital and Eight Roads Ventures also participated in the round. BlissClub will use the capital to expand its physical retail presence. The company will also scale category development and hire talent for its next phase of growth.

Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) refers to a business model where companies sell products directly to customers. They can use their own websites or physical stores. This approach bypasses traditional retail intermediaries.

Omnichannel retailing integrates digital and physical touchpoints. It provides customers with a unified shopping experience across online platforms and brick-and-mortar locations.

Retail Expansion and Strategic Growth

Since its inception in 2020, BlissClub has evolved from an online-only activewear brand. It now operates as an omnichannel business with over 40 retail stores across India.

The company recently diversified its portfolio by entering the menswear category. The move is intended to broaden its market reach.

This expansion follows a period of financial recovery. The startup reported operating revenue of ₹131.6 Cr for FY25. This represents a 51% year-over-year increase.

The company has also focused on improving its bottom line. Net losses narrowed to ₹20.2 Cr from ₹45.5 Cr in the previous fiscal year.

This financial improvement follows a challenging period for the startup. BlissClub reduced its workforce by 18% in January 2024. The move came as the company worked to control costs amid high cash burn and a difficult fundraising environment.

According to the company, its revenue has grown by 60% year over year for the past two years. A community-led strategy has driven this growth. The strategy focuses on product development, content, and events.

Market Context and Industry Outlook

The investment comes as investor interest in the Indian athleisure sector intensifies. The market is projected to reach $22.4 billion by 2034.

Established players and new entrants continue to compete for market share. The segment has also seen increased activity.

This includes the recent launch of the One8 sportswear brand by Agilitias Sports. Startups such as CAVA have also expanded their women-focused portfolios.

For BlissClub, the fresh capital is expected to support physical retail expansion, category development, and hiring. The company aims to scale its omnichannel presence through these initiatives.

By prioritizing physical retail expansion, BlissClub can reach more customers across India. Its entry into new categories can also broaden its market presence.

The company aims to solidify its position as a major player in India’s evolving activewear landscape.
