Bioscan Research Secures $1 Million to Advance Brain Injury Tech

MedTech startup Bioscan Research has successfully secured $1 million in a seed funding round led by Unicorn India Ventures. The company, which specializes in the development of non-invasive medical devices, intends to use this capital to accelerate its market presence, obtain additional regulatory clearances, and advance its intellectual property portfolio.

Bioscan Research Funding and Growth Objectives

The recent investment follows a period of significant progress for the organization, which reported a fivefold increase in growth over the past twelve months.

With the new funding secured, the leadership team has set a target to achieve threefold growth during the upcoming year as they look to scale operations.

Expansion plans for the company include strengthening its footprint within India while simultaneously entering international markets. These efforts are designed to ensure that their diagnostic solutions reach a broader patient base, addressing the critical need for accessible medical technology on a global scale.

CEREBO Device and Non-Invasive Brain Injury Detection

At the core of the company’s operations is CEREBO, a machine learning-powered device that utilizes Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) technology.

The device is engineered to provide objective assessments for the early detection of traumatic brain injuries, specifically targeting the pre-symptomatic phase of these conditions.

The technology is designed to assist medical professionals in identifying intracranial hemorrhages even when patients do not exhibit visible symptoms. By enabling earlier clinical interventions, the device aims to improve patient outcomes during the critical period following a trauma event.

Incorporated in 2017 by founders Anupam Lavania and Shilpa Malik, the firm integrates expertise in optics, electronics, mechanics, and software to manufacture its medical equipment.

This multidisciplinary approach allows the company to create affordable tools that bridge gaps in existing trauma care protocols.

Addressing Global Gaps in Traumatic Brain Injury Care

Research indicates that over 50 million individuals suffer from traumatic brain injuries annually, with a substantial portion of mild cases remaining undiagnosed.

The company aims to address this diagnostic gap by providing clinicians with clearer data, thereby facilitating faster and more accurate decision-making in emergency settings.

Unicorn India Ventures, the lead investor, noted that the healthcare sector continues to face significant challenges regarding the early diagnosis of head trauma.

By supporting the development of non-invasive diagnostic capabilities, the investment seeks to capitalize on the increasing demand for advanced medical solutions that improve clinical efficiency.

This funding round provides the necessary resources for Bioscan Research to refine its existing technology and overcome the limitations associated with traditional diagnostic tools.

Through these advancements, the company is positioned to play a larger role in standardizing early detection methods for brain injuries worldwide.
