Groq Secures $350 Million Funding to Expand Neocloud Services

Groq has successfully raised $350 million in a new funding round led by investment firm Disruptive. The deal includes planned participation from Nvidia and brings the startup’s valuation to $3.5 billion.

The funding supports Groq’s continued expansion as an AI inference neocloud provider, following its strategic shift after Nvidia licensed its inference technology. Groq is now focused on providing cloud infrastructure and data center services for AI inference workloads using Nvidia systems.

The company currently operates 13 data centers across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and the Asia Pacific region. These facilities provide services to more than 6 million developers, enterprises, and AI-native organizations.

Looking ahead, Groq has set a goal to significantly increase its capacity. The firm plans to scale its operations from 54 megawatts to more than 200 megawatts by 2027, supporting the growing demand for AI inference infrastructure.

This latest round follows a $650 million investment raised in June to accelerate Groq’s cloud expansion. The funding was aimed at scaling the company’s AI inference cloud business as Groq continued its strategic transition toward providing large-scale AI infrastructure services.

The current $3.5 billion valuation is significantly below the $6.9 billion valuation recorded last September. The decline follows Nvidia’s licensing agreement for Groq’s inference technology, along with the departure of founder and CEO Jonathan Ross and other employees to Nvidia.

With the latest funding, Groq is positioning itself to expand its AI infrastructure footprint while increasing its capacity to serve the rapidly growing demand for real-time AI inference.
