HCLTech and Sarvam Plan ₹14,257 Crore AI Data Center in Odisha

HCLTech has partnered with AI startup Sarvam and the Odisha government to develop a ₹14,257 crore AI Data Center and Global Technology Center in Bhubaneswar. Scheduled to become operational by 2028, the project aims to strengthen India’s sovereign AI infrastructure while creating 5,000 jobs.

The facility will house both the Global Technology Center and the AI Data Center, providing AI-driven digital solutions to multinational enterprises.

According to HCLTech, the initiative supports its sovereign AI strategy and aligns with India’s broader efforts to build domestic AI infrastructure. The project also aims to strengthen India’s sovereign AI ecosystem and accelerate the country’s digital infrastructure development.

Job Creation and Talent Development in Odisha

The establishment of the Global Technology Center is projected to create 5,000 jobs. Beyond direct employment, HCLTech plans to strengthen the local talent ecosystem through collaborations with educational institutions and skill development initiatives.

HCLTech also plans to collaborate with educational institutions and policymakers to develop local AI talent and strengthen Odisha’s technology ecosystem. The company cited the state’s infrastructure and policy environment as factors in the decision to locate the hub in Bhubaneswar.

HCLTech Secures $1.14 Billion AI Network Contract

Separately, HCLTech has signed a $1.14 billion contract with a Europe-based Fortune Global 50 organization. The agreement, which runs from July 2026 through December 2031, focuses on transforming the client’s corporate network operations and digital workplace using an AI-driven operating model.

This contract represents net new business for the company and includes an option to extend the term by an additional five years. The agreement highlights HCLTech’s continued focus on expanding its AI capabilities across both enterprise services and large-scale digital infrastructure projects.
